CBD Workout Recovery Is a Game Changer

Asé Pure Naturals brings wellness to your post workout recovery

Fitness is big business. Each year there are new trends as athletes, gym-goers, and health-conscious people search for answers, support, and to make all their hard work pay off. I mean, who wants to hit the gym for hours each week and not see results? Who wants to walk 3 miles a day and have all that soreness with no results? You’ve got the walking shoes, the yoga pants, the protein mixes, and the sweat to prove it – you want to give your body the best you can. Simply put – you want to look good, feel good, and see results. And CBD can help in several ways as you nurture muscle restoration after workout.

You may have heard about CBD for pre-workout or CBD workout recovery for after all your hard work. But is it all hype? (Like so much else out there in the fitness industry?) Or does it really help?

Today we are going to address a trend that’s more than a trend – how CBD workout recovery could be a game changer for you no matter your fitness level. Because the key to your workout success could be what you do after your workout.

Key Points

  • The importance of targeted workout recovery
  • How CBD workout recovery could help you see results
  • How to use CBD for muscle restoration after workout

What Happens to Your Body After a Workout?

Learning a little about proper recovery after workout can help you to nurture what your body needs during this crucial time. Here’s a little about how it works and how you can support your fatigued muscles as they heal from exercise or other strenuous activities.

What Is Meant by Muscle Recovery?

You will hear this term muscle recovery a lot in the fitness industry and it’s not just a selling point. This refers to a physiological process in your body and one that is critical if you want to lose weight, gain muscle, or reach other health and fitness goals like improved endurance, speed, and agility.

Much like your skin produces more collagen in response to micro-abrasions, thereby looking younger and more polished, your muscles also have a reparative process of healing, which produces more muscle mass and muscle tone. This is your body’s natural way of preparing itself for the activities in your life and making sure you are fit and strong enough to do them.

After your workout, this muscle recovery process helps your body to get stronger and leaner. And most importantly, you should remember that post workout recovery is also important for your heart health – your heart is a muscle!

After your workout or any physical exercise that requires exertion and extra oxygen (gets your breathing going) your body will go through a process called excess post-exercise oxygen consumption, or EPOC, which allows you to still burn calories while your body is at rest.

You may also experience some muscle soreness during this time. As you work your muscles during your workout, your muscles experience small tears (called muscle hypertrophy) creating damaged fibers which your body then repairs, fusing them and creating more muscle mass.

This post workout healing process is important because this is actually when you build muscle and sustain caloric burn. Providing support to your body during this time will help you to recover efficiently and to manage that post workout soreness that can be very uncomfortable, especially if we overdo it.

What Your Body Needs During Workout Recovery

Post workout – and this includes any type of physical exertion so it could be a busy day at work, a sprint-cleaning of your home, a day of hiking, or wrestling with the grandkids – your body needs some extra support. This is true from everyone from beginner to experienced athletes to workers that have a demanding physical labor job to fairly routine activities that may get more strenuous for you as you age.

It helps to know what your body needs after this strenuous activity so that it heals well, and you feel good.

Here’s what your body needs after exercise:

  • A boost in hydration.
  • Time. Light activities that give your muscles some time to heal. (Walking or stretching, for example.)
  • A cool down time right after strenuous activity or exercise.
  • High quality proteins in your diet. Examples would be milk, yogurt, eggs, cheese, lean meats and fish.
  • Healthy carbs. Examples would be sweet potatoes, fresh fruit, oatmeal, whole grain pasta or bread.
  • Enriching supplements like creatine protein supplements, protein drinks, or a CBD workout recovery regimen.
  • A healthy sleep cycle is also important as your body does crucial healing work while you sleep.

CBD Workout Recovery

CBD workout recovery means that you incorporate various CBD products after you workout to help support the healing process your body goes through. As part of a complete post-workout program, CBD products can help your body to relax and may even help with some of that muscle soreness. There are different CBD products that you can use and how you plan out your workout recovery regimen can vary from person to person. We’ll go over a few of the things you need to know when designing your best CBD workout recovery regimen.

Why CBD Post Workout Is a Good Idea

Considering all your body is going through after exercise, CBD benefits fit in well with those needs. Many people find the benefits help them to feel better after a workout, get better rest, and deal with recovery better than without it.

CBD Benefits Can Help You:

  • Feel more relaxed
  • Ease into your healthy sleep cycle in the evenings
  • Ease muscle soreness after exercise or other strenuous activities
  • Maintain a homeostasis in the body for greater wellness

It is important to note that research on CBD, what it can do for our bodies, and how it might help with workout recovery is currently lacking but also quite promising. Preliminary studies support CBD as an option that is safe and has few, if any, negative effects. Most people tolerate CBD products very well, though the responses vary from person to person.

While we wait for the research studies to be more thorough and conclusive, we base our hopes on word of mouth and experience. In short, you have to try CBD products, experiment a little with the serving sizes, concentrations and forms, and find what works best for you.

What Kind of CBD Works Best for Post Workout?

If you are interested in trying a CBD workout recovery option, there are several things you can choose from. One of the most common methods is to use a CBD tincture on a regular basis, twice a day (morning and night) and then add a micro-serving size (a half-amount from your regular serving size) after a strenuous activity or workout.

For example: You take .5 mL of 900 mg strength Broad Spectrum CBD oil each morning and each night. This helps your body to keep a regular amount of CBD in your system for daily wellness and better rest. But then, you head to the beach for a weekend and in one Saturday you blow your normal 5000 steps into a 20,000 step explore-a-thon as you hit all those tourist spots.

You know you are going to be sore and maybe have some trouble sleeping that night. So, you take a half-serving of CBD tincture at dinner to help your body. Then, you take your regular serving at bedtime. This is a good example of how you might use CBD workout recovery in your everyday life to help your body as it heals from a strenuous activity or workout sesh.

How to Use CBD – Post Workout

Here are a few different ways you can use CBD workout recovery (each is an option, but you can adjust or combine options as you feel it is needed. Remember, only your doctor can definitively advise you on how much CBD you should take.)

  • Take an extra serving size or half serving size right after a workout or strenuous activity. You can use the same CBD product you use everyday.
  • If you use broad spectrum CBD oil each day (which does not contain THC), you can add an extra portion of Full Spectrum CBD oil which contains a very small amount of THC 0.3% or less, for greater relaxation after a workout.
  • You can opt to simply take a higher amount of your regular CBD product in the evening before bed.
  • You can take a higher amount of your CBD product if you wake up sore in the morning.
  • And one of the most popular ways to use CBD workout recovery is to add in a CBD Muscle Gel roll-on product to use for those muscles that really need it. You can do this in addition to any of the methods above.

CBD Workout Recovery Is a Lasting Trend

CBD workout recovery is not a trend that will disappear on us like many of the other workout trends that come and go. CBD shows great promise for health and wellness benefits and thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, CBD is now much more widely accepted as a unique and purposeful extract from industrial hemp.

It is up to you (and your doctor) to decide whether or not you need CBD, or CBD in combination with small amounts of THC, to get the results you desire.
