Unusual Uses for CBD

As acceptance of CBD grows, a number of conventional uses have emerged. For example, many people are well aware of CBD’s potential therapeutic benefits, specifically for addressing maladies such as  sleep, anxiety and pain relief.

But what if these conventional uses for CBD are just scratching the surface? A number of researchers and everyday CBD users think that might be the case. Indeed, there is a growing body of evidence to suggest that the uses of CBD are wide and multi-faceted.

Indeed, there are a number of unusual CBD uses that you may not have heard of. Here are just a handful of our favorite examples.

Unconventional Uses for CBD

1) Using CBD to quit smoking.

Researchers have discovered something really interesting about nicotine: It interacts with the Endocannabinoid system. As such, there is a growing sense that CBD oil can be used to stifle nicotine cravings, replacing the Endocannabinoid sensations that a person might normally get from a cigarette.

There have been some studies showing that people who take CBD smoke fewer cigarettes, and may have an easier time kicking their nicotine habit altogether.

While the research is still nascent, this is certainly a promising new avenue for further investigation.

2) Administering CBD to pets.

There is ample anecdotal evidence to suggest how CBD might improve a person’s health… but what about improving a pet’s health?

A number of passionate pet owners have begun providing small doses of CBD oil to their animals, specifically dogs. Again, the research is pretty new and should be taken lightly, but there is at least some evidence to show that CBD can alleviate doggy symptoms, including situational anxiety (think thunderstorm freak-outs) and yeast infections.

Keep this in mind, but make sure you talk to your vet before giving your four-legged friend any CBD supplements.

3) Using CBD to alleviate high heel pain.

This may sound silly, but it’s actually a fairly popular use of CBD, particularly among celebrities. Indeed, a number of big Hollywood stars have noted their preference for CBD as a way to alleviate the pain of walking around in heels.

How exactly does CBD help minimize heel pain? There’s not really any research to provide a clear, direct answer, but it seems likely that the painkilling and anti-inflammatory properties of CBD come into play here.

Certainly, if you need to wear uncomfortable heels often, and want a way to numb the pain a little bit, CBD may be worth considering.

4) Taking CBD post-workout.

Another unusual use of CBD? Preventing cramps following an intense session at the gym.

Basically, the anti-inflammatory properties of CBD can trigger a response in the CB2 receptors, which are part of the Endocannabinoid system and help to regulate muscle cramping.

Some athletes have found that using CBD following their workout helps shorten their recovery time, which means they can get back to physical exertion sooner.

As with all of these other CBD uses, you should check with your doctor first. With that said, athletes seeking the perfect post-workout succor should keep CBD in mind.

5) Incorporating CBD into skincare.

We tend to think of CBD purely as something that we ingest. Believe it or not, CBD can also be beneficial when applied topically.

There are actually a number of cultures that use topical CBD applications to treat conditions such as eczema and acne. These uses of CBD are starting to catch on here in the United States, as well.

Indeed, major cosmetic lines have begun unveiling CBD-infused products, suggesting that this is no longer a fringe use for CBD oil.
